Community Building & Planning
The Building Department is responsible for the permitting of construction projects ensuring the compliance of those projects with adopted regulations through inspections. Additionally, the department provides code compliance.

The Planning Department engages in a variety of activities to enhance the quality of life for the community. The department provides both current (including zoning) and long-range planning for development within the community.
The Planning Commission is an advisory board designed to make recommendations to the City Council on the long range growth and development of Medical Lake, including changes to the City's Comprehensive Land Use Plan and zoning ordinance.

Meetings: Planning Commission meetings are open to the public and allow for community participation. Monthly meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month at 5:00 P.M. located in Medical Lake City Hall Council Chambers. Meetings are generally a few hours. The Planning Commission conducts public hearings and other forums throughout the year to seek public input on items before the Commission for consideration.
